Gardening at Ally’s Castle

I don’t claim to have a green thumb.I have a small area that I can call my garden.

Gardening to me doesn’t need to be perfect. It get me outside and is good therapy, relaxing. πŸ¦‹πŸŒΉπŸ€πŸ’πŸŒΏπŸŒ»πŸ™‚

I took a couple of photos this morning.

Peace Lily, my one and only indoor plant. My above ground vegetable box. I recently planted Tomato, Silverbeet, Lettuce, Baby Spinach, Snow Pea and Marigold (companion planting). I cover it up at night due to hungry animals.Just a few new plants and some old ones that sit in front of my veranda .My view of my little garden from where I sit on my veranda. I hope to add more pots of colour, it’s good for The Soul.

Takeaway at Ally’s Castle

But it isn’t !!!

One of my favorite meals is Fish and Chips. Now if I voiced that out in public people would think I said ‘fush n chups’. Even though I have lived in Australia for 31 years I have not lost my Kiwi accent. The funny thing is when I lived in New Zealand people that didn’t know me would ask if I was from South Africa and when singing if I was from America.

Back to the takeaway meal.

Tonight I cooked homemade chips and a crumbed salmon fillet.

Ingredients: Potato, Salmon Fillet with skin on. Flour, Egg, Panko Crumbs, Pepper and Salt.

The chips were baked in the oven 180 degrees for about 30mins. I then turned the heat up to 220 degrees and cooked the salmon for 15 minutes

No greens tonight, I will make up for it tomorrow.

My appetite is satisfied….yummy πŸ˜‹

Living Room Storage at Ally’s Castle.

I was hoping to purchase Oak Cube Storage Units. Unfortunately they are out of stock. I definitely didn’t want black or white.

After what seemed like hours browsing the internet I finally found a unit that would suit my small abode with natural brick walls. It’s a budget piece of furniture that suits me well.

The flat pack delivery arrived yesterday. I managed to find an expert flat pack man to assemble the unit same day.

I recently had received a monetary gift from my lovely son, daughter-in-law and grandson , that’s what I used to buy the oak unit.

I am feeling truly blessed, thankful and happy πŸ˜€πŸ‘.

Sunday Cook Up at Ally’s Castle

Recently I have been craving sausage rolls and no I’m not pregnant.

Yesterday at the shops I did my stint of ‘hunter gatherer’ getting ingredients for the sausage rolls.I purchased Pork Mince, Carrot, Zuchinni and Puff Pastry.

Today I grated the zucchini and carrot and mixed it with the pork mince. I also added a small of diced red onion and some thyme.

I defrosted the pastry while preparing the mixture.

I then decided to make a pie because of laziness . I placed a sheet of pastry into a pie dish, filled it with the mixture, placed another sheet of pastry on the top. I made some air vents on the top and then brushed it with beaten egg.

Cooked into a preheated 170 degree oven for about 30 minutes.

There was enough mixture for another cook up so I froze it in a small sealed bag, maybe for the sausage rolls when I have more energy πŸ™‚.Definitely delicious with a dash of BBQ Sauce. I made enough for 4 small serves. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

The Weather Forecast

I have the Brisbane Weather Forecast app on my cell phone. The background photos change to compliment the weather. In Australia we are now enjoying my favourite season SPRING.

I really like the photos. I screen shot them so I could share with you. These shots were taken during the last 4 days.

The next photo was a photo displayed by Brisbane City Council celebrating spring.

Another Milestone Achieved

September 1st . Today I reached the age of 70th. I really don’t know where all the years have gone. Time waits for no-one.My day started with a phone call from from my 87 year spiritual soul mate Geoff who lives in Victoria ( I live in Brisbane). Geoff sang Happy Birthday to me. So sweet, it was a delightful start to my day.

Up bright and early , dressed in pink ready for the start of spring .

Waiting at the bus stop in preparation for a day out. Another cluster of Covid-19 in Brisbane, recommended to wear a mask on the bus.

Met up with my bestie mate Joan. We usually try and meet up for lunch and chit chat every couple of months.

We shared a chicken and mushroom pizza, followed by dessert and coffee. I opted for pavlova my favourite dessert.

I have been thoroughly spoilt today with lots of beautiful messages and some gifts. My daughter from the cattle station sent me a bottle of soup mix and a lovely poncho type garment…nice and warm .

My son posted me a monetary gift card and a packet of Gingernuts. The gingernuts are a kiwi brand that he knows I like, so does he and his beautiful wife….they are really yummy

My friend gave me a silk pillow case, an oriental bloom soy candle, earl grey tea and Griffins MellowPuffs…yum.yum.Receiving gifts is lovely but the most important thing in life for me is love and support from friends and family.I live alone and have been now for 12 years. I am not lonely. I am contented and comfortable with my life. I am happy and truly blessed.

I did order myself some more art gear

Lucky me πŸ™‚πŸ€πŸŒ»πŸŒΌπŸŒΊ

Your Opinion is Valued.

I plan to buy budget cube shelving x2. My living room is small and rather dark because it doesn’t get any direct sunlight.

The internal walls are brick and have to stay that way.

I have found the shelving I like but can’t decide whether to get black or oak.

I plan to store books, art gear and maybe a couple of pot plants on them.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

In anticipation thanks for your ideas πŸ™‚

Rustic Farm Shack

Weeks 21 & 22 : Part of my online art lessons was to learn about Point 2 Perspective. To understand about this I needed to draw a old farm shack and focus on getting the perspective correct.

Once the outline and perspective was correct it was then time to fill in the details.

I enjoyed creating the farm shack.
