First Attempt

My first attempt at painting a landscape using acrylics. It will need some adjustments to the clouds, trees and more shape to the mountains. Great way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon.

      1. I have loved my first attempt at art more than any of my later pieces because there was something so natural, and so magical. Never toss out your work or overwork it trying to fix it, as I learned the hard way. It is special and wonderful just the way it is. I used to get nice frames for my paintings (I do watercolors and acrylics, and I am still a beginner) at the thrift stores. It wasn’t that they weren’t worth something newer, etc. but I liked the fact that there was something older to hold it gave me a good feeling and I could find something that really looked nice, and even have a mat cut for it too if I wanted. I have always used thrift store frames because there are some really beautiful ones and so inexpensive too. I am not wealthy, at least not in moola, but I am rich with blessings, and appreciating our beginning art is one of them.

      2. Anne so far I have experimented with pencil, soft and oil pastels, watercolour and have done one in acrylic. I would like to try painting onto a canvas, that will happen soon. Happy painting Anne ๐Ÿ–ผ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ˜€

      2. Oh, me too! Ditto. both have so many good things to offer us in this life besides enjoyment of beauty we can create. They are healing, relaxing, and they help us to remember the magic in this world.

    1. Everything we create is perfect. We just have to learn to appreciate that. There is no “ugly” in our art. We may not appreciate some of it, but that is an individual thing, and no reflection on the art itself. What I may believe is not wonderful is to someone else. The most important thing about not being a failure is to keep doing. And don’t throw your work away as I have done. Someday you will look back on it and see its value.

    1. I began going to a seniors beginners art class in February. Unfortunately I needed to move away from the area in May and can’t get to the class. Next year I might find a class near where I now live. I have found numerous sites/programs on the internet. I plan to keep drawing and painting because I really enjoy it plus it gives me a purpose and pleasure in my life. Tomorrow I will be working on a painting of cat for a dear friend whose cat sadly passed away. I hope you can have time to enjoy doing things that you enjoy. Cheers from Ally ๐Ÿ™‚
