My chosen third excursion was ‘Discover The Majestic Breakaways ‘.

When booking to travel on the Ghan you have two options: Adelaide to Darwin 3 days 2 nights or Darwin to Adelaide 4 days 3 nights. I chose the second option and extra time because you get to visit Coober Pedy. I have watched several travel documentaries on TV about Coober Pedy, opal mining and living and working conditions. This location was on my bucket list and I am so happy I achieved this, it was the highlight of my holiday. We not only saw the amazing landscape but also got to go underground, learn about the opal mining.

Sorry for this extra long post. I felt that need to share my happiness with you. I must give thanks to Burnie Brae Travel Connections in Brisbane for arranging this holiday for me but it wouldn’t have happened if I was not determined to achieve it.
I arrived in Adelaide on my last day and was feeling exhausted. I booked into the hotel and really just stayed there until time for my flight back to Brisbane the next day. I did a Covid test on my return home, the nasty virus finally got to me. I spent a week in isolation , was prescribed the antiviral medication . Thank goodness I am on the mend.
Beautiful opals and interesting post, Ally. Thank you!

Thank you Raj for reading my post and your comments. The Majestic Breakaways are in South Australia which about a 27 hour road trip from where I live in Brisbane Queensland. I may never get there again. There are many more places in Australia that I would like to see. Have a wonderful day

I didn’t travel by road, I took a 5 hour flight from Brisbane to Darwin then by train to Adelaide and then a flight back to Brisbane.
