My Outback Australian Holiday.

Darwin to Adelaide. Follow the red line down the middle of Australia with me as I explore my adopted country

I set off on my 73rd birthday on September 1st.  I knew the majority of my accommodation would be cramped so I had to travel light.

I needed to fly from Brisbane to Darwin. On my arrival in Darwin I booked into a hotel for one night.  In the evening I went on a Charles Darwin Dinner Cruise.

The crew sang happy birthday to me . I felt very special.
A beautiful sunset

After a good night’s rest I boarded a bus which took me to the Ghan Journey Beyond Train.

My accommodation for 3 nights 4 days.

I was booked into a Gold Class Single Cabin.

Compact little cabin.
Cute little handbasin with complimentary toiletries. Toilets and showers were in the same carriage.
The staff would convert my cabin ready for sleep each night.
To get to the lounge and dinning carriage I needed to walk through 3 sleeper carriages, it was good exercise. The lounge was comfortable and a great way to meet other travellers and socialise.
In the lounge you could order beverages such as tea, coffee, alcohol and non alcohol drinks, all prepaid ….an endless supply.
We were given specific times for meals . Delicious food and a good selection.

Each day we could choose an off train excursion to go on. My first excursion was the Katherine Outback Experience.

A woman in disguise.
Look at that red dirt.

The Katherine Ourback Experience was interesting. I loved the country music sung by a legendary country singer Tim Curtain.

That’s the end of Day 1 on the Ghan .

My pc is out of action just now, needing a new keyboard so I am using my cell phone. Tomorrow I will post about two more excursions.
