Supermarket shelves are empty. I managed to buy Lentils, Chickpeas, Rice and some spices at the local Indian Shop….I am feeling blessed π
I have never cooked Dhal, it’s been on my bucket list to do and now I finally have the basic ingredient.
I am now researching recipes for making dhal that are too complicated.
A dear little aged Indian lady customer said to cook rice with the Dahl.
Take care Ally.

Sweet potato patties? Whoa, I might need a recipe. Sounds very delish!

They were delish. There was no real recipe. I just cooked sweet potato, mashed it and then added some cooked lentils, a sprinkle of flour to combine, any seasoning you fancy and a dash of water. Cook in a pan on a medium heat for about 4 minutes on each side. Cooking time will depend on what size you make the patties….Enjoy π

Hey Ally! That’s awesome that you’re trying to cook dal for the first time.
I’d recommend you check out a Youtube channel called ‘Hebbar’s Kitchen’ (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPPIsrNlEkaFQBk-4uNkOaw).
She’s got some great vegetarian recipes, including many on dal. They’re super easy, and fun to watch (and cook).
All the best!ππ

It’s interesting to note what the ‘ravening hordes’ leave behind. Bon apetit. π

Empty shelves are saddening. π¨

Over here the shelves should not be empty. We have a hoarding issue.

It is not difficult to cook Dhal. I am from Sri Lanka and yes it can be eaten with Rice or with bread. Do you want a simple way of cooking it. It is usually cooked in Coconut Milk. But if you don’t have Coconut milk you can use fresh milk also. Happy cooking β€ π β€

Thank you for your comments. I couldn’t get any Coconut Milk but did manage to get Coconut Cream. I am lactose intolerant and do manage well with alternatives. Stay safe and be well πβ€
