Sunday breakfast , lunch, dinner or a snack at the local cafe. I sit there at least once a week, enjoy myself and watch the world go by, what could be better.
Fish and Chips. I am a Kiwi living in Australia. According to the Australians I say “Fush n Chups”.
Thatched Roofed Houses on Escape To The Country. Nealy every Saturday night I watch Escape To The Country on TV. Some of the potential property buyers irritate the life out of me but I still love the program.
Lupins – yes I know they are considered to be a weed. They are growing at my special place Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie Country of New Zealand. The colours are divine, I love them.
John Denver was and still is my favourite artist. His beautiful songs bring so much happiness to me in the dark and light times. When I was younger people would say I looked like John Denver.
Guitars. Music brings so much comfort to me. I developed a passion for guitars at an early age. At 15 when I started work I bought my first guitar and started going to lessons. There is something about a stringed instrument, I just adore the sound of them, plus you can sing along as you play. I have still got a guitar, even though I don’t regularly play it. I keep it there to pluck a few cords whenever I get the urge.
There are numerous other things I like, the above are my top picks.
I should add that my regular passions are art and writing. I have published one book and I am learning to draw and paint, might master it by the time I get to 100. …wow what an achievement that would be 1π.
What are your favourite things, what brings joy, happiness and comfort to you ?
These are all great things, Ally. I like writing, reading and baking.

Here in Atlantic Canada, we have a lot of lupins which means that it can be grown on the soil that encounters winters though at this time, only a handful can be seen.

Thanks Josie that’s interesting to know. At Tekapo there are long cold winters with lots of snow, spring time is a good season to be there.

Some stores here even sell packets of lupin seeds among other kinds of seeds)floral or fruit),perhaps in time for spring. I also love fish and chips. I live in the Maritimes—particularly New Brunswick, Other Maritime provinces(Nova Scotia,Prince Edward Island) and Newfoundland & Labrador are all well-known for seafood.

I just googled and apparently lupin seeds are available here in Australia, so I might get some for a pot plant.
I live in Taigum which is a about a 20 drive from the city of Brisbane CBD. I will have seafood whenever I can. I don’t get to visit any Fish Markets but I can buy fresh or frozen fish from the locals shops.

I like Lupins and I don’t think here in the UK it’s classed as a weed as over where you live.
My favourite things are walking in nature dvd’s and my hamster.

That’s great Liz. Walking in nature would be relaxing. What type of movies do you enjoy? They say it’s good for your well-being to have pet, a hamster sounds like good fun. I used to have two budgies, one lived with me for 9 years.

Dvd’s I like to watch can be action, thriller or comedy. I plan to watch some Marvel type movies today.
I like to watch the odd disney films too. I watched Polar Express last night.
I have watched a lot of dvd’s to help me get through things of last year, more than normal. It has been my escape, if not walking in nature. A neighbour has bern lending me a lot of his.
I love animals. Being where I live, it’s not practical to have a cat. I hope in a few years when I live elsewhere, unless it happens before, to have a cat again, when living some suitable.
My hamster is fun to watch, when I see him.
When I was younger, I have had budgies, canaries, and cockatiels. (Not all at the same time.) I would love a cockatiel while not practical to have a cat, but I dare not, as it would affect my athma unfortunately.

I forgot to say about the lupins I read on the internet that they are considered a weed, they are beautiful and Tekapo have done nothing about getting rid of them , they are part of the lovely environment.

They do look lovely to look at and add colour to the environment.

I cried like a baby the day John Denver died. Among my favorites are writing, reading, Pandora’s contemporary folk radio, times spent with family or friends, Acorn TV, birds, flowers (miss the lupins in Michigan), sunset, vegetables, sunrise, and a good cup of coffee:)

An Aussie starts a conversation with a Kiwi at his farm.
Aussie: “G’day, mind if I talk to your dog?”
Kiwi: “The dog doesn’t talk.”
Aussie: “Hello dog, how’s it going mate?”
Dog: “Yeah, doin’ all right.”
Kiwi: (look of extreme shock)
Aussie: “Is this guy your owner?” (pointing at the Kiwi)
Dog: “Yep”
Aussie: “How does he treat you?”
Dog: “Yeah, real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food and takes me to the lake once a week to play.”
Kiwi: (look of utter disbelief)
Aussie: “Mind if I talk to your horse?”
Kiwi: “Uh, the horse doesn’t talk either….I think.”
Aussie: “Hey horse, how’s it going?”
Horse: “Cool”
Kiwi: (absolutely dumbfounded)
Aussie: “Is this your owner?” (Pointing at the Kiwi)
Horse: “Yep”
Aussie: How does he treat you?
Horse: “Pretty good, thanks for asking. He rides me regularly, brushes me down often and keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements.”
Kiwi: (total look of amazement)
Aussie: “Mind if I talk to your sheep?”
Kiwi: “Don’t believe a word he says, that sheep’s a fucking liar!”

Thatched roof houses and lupins are fantastic. I had such a hard time getting lupins to grow at my cottage years ago and when they were finally doing well and blooming so nicely, I had to sell the cottage! But they are so bright and colorful. Don’t see them much around here though which is too bad.ππΈ

I don’t see lupids where I live. It might be too hot for them in Brisbane. π

I think around here it’s just a soil problem.π€
LikeLiked by 1 person
I read the idea soil for lupins is moist but well-drained and can be acid, chalky or neutral. It is also said best in sheltered areas, the lupins I have seen are definitely not in sheltered areas.
LikeLiked by 1 person
No, any lupins I have seen here were out in the open, not sheltered. Just thin soil here, too rocky, so generally roots can’t go deep. Where it is deeper it’s mostly sand, definitely well drained but not much nutrients.
