The Australian Ibis is a protected bird. They are can be seen in many places such as swamps, parks etc but also right in the heart of the City of Brisbane. They can be dangerous and quite intimidating to humans. Humans can be dangerous to the wildlife. Please don’t feed them.

They have an elegant walk and that bill is beautiful.
It doesn’t matter how many “don’t feed the birds” (ducks/waterfowl) signs and advertisements that are put up at ponds, lakes and parks, people still feed them. The saddest thing I saw in Brisbane was duck born with deformed feet and/or wings. Human food is dangerous for wildlife.

I agree they do have an elegant walk, I can sit and watch them for ages. I might try and do a painting of one. Many people don’t seem to care about the beautiful wildlife.
