My Australian Outback Holiday continues

Day 2 on the Ghan my chosen excursion was the ‘Alice Explorer’.

The first place we visited was the Alice Springs School of the Air. We watched some videos of children in the outback learning by air, Thank goodness for technology.

My tote bag from the gift shop
A useful bookmark from the gift shop.

We then visited Anzac , a memorial site dedicated to armed services who served in World War 1.

We had a brief stop at Alice Spring Desert Park for lunch.

After lunch we went to the Royal Flying Doctor Service museum and gift shop.

We also visited a Reptile Centre. We were educated at length about deadly snakes and of course recommended treatment. I tried to take some photos of reptiles but not very successful.

Thorny Devil Moloch horridus. Walks very slowly with jerky movements
Lizard/ Goanna . He disappeared into a plastic pipe to have an afternoon nap.

After a busy day exploring Alice Springs we went back to the train , had a rest and then headed out again by bus to the Telegraph Station to enjoy an Outback Dinner under the stars.

Real country music , excellent band.
Ally with new friends Brenda and Sue. We applied insect repellent because of the risk of being eaten by midges
Tables set for 200 passengers off the train.
There’s that woman in disguise again
We were issued with complimentary ponchos to wear because it gets very cold out there.

After a beautiful evening under the stars we were taken back to the train to rest up ready for another adventure on day 3.
