Shock horror today to find worm bugs had attacked my tomatoes .
The plant had been given a real bashing from the hail a few weeks ago but was managing to survive in parts.
Because part of the plant was dying I decided to rescue tomatoes that the worm bug hadn’t got to and then put the plant out and start again.
I managed to save few, washed them, dried in a tea towel.
I will put them in a paper bag and place in a warm spot to ripen up. If not successful it’s no big deal because I can buy punnets of cherry tomatoes for under $4.00.
Wasn’t there a movie about this?

Yes there is, a drama/comedy called Fried Green Tomatoes. I don’t recall ever seeing the movie 🙂

Oh No! Sometimes the bugs just appear and have a munch…I am all for sharing with wildlife like birds and squirrels but bugs..they decimate everything …

They look like they’ll be very tasty if they can ripen up enough. 🙂

I have got them in a paper bag and stored in a warm area where my hot water system is located. I just need to remember that I put them there 🤣.

I am sorry to hear about your tomatoes, Ally. We had hail and it ruined a lot of our peaches.

Roberta sorry to hear about your peaches. Unfortunately the weather is something we have no control over.

What’s the best way to prevent tomatoes from being attacked by worms?

Vincent I don’t know the answer. Google gives several natural ways to try and treat them. The gardening supply shops have products that you can use. Maybe a sterile greenhouse could be the answer.

I did read that bicarbonate soda and water is a safe spray to use. The worms had already done too much damage by the time I discovered them.
