It Kinda Smells like Christmas at Ally’s Castle.

Every year I make at least two Christmas Cakes. A few years ago I made 17 cakes because people at work put orders in, not that I was advertising.

One down one to go.

    1. Thanks Alli , you’re not really behind I always make the cakes ahead of time before the weather gets too hot here for long cooking. I am pleased you love ‘Ally’s Castle’ , its my way of accepting and enjoying my little one bedroom seniors government unit ๐Ÿ˜‚

      1. Well, they do say an Englishman’s home is his castle, so why not apply that to your part of the world too? Glad to hear I’m not hideously behind, but I’m glad you’ve got yours done before the heat sets in. It seems so strange saying that, as it’s the opposite here – it’s getting freezing over here!

      2. Even here in Australia the weather is strange….hot dry weather in Queensland while down in Victoria it cold and wet just now. I am originally from the South Island of New Zealand.

    1. Hopefully it won’t crumble when my daughter cuts into it. It was my first time cooking a cake in my breville pro oven that sits up on the bench top. I will make a second one during the weekend. I will be able to test that one because I am sharing it with my son. ๐ŸŒ

    1. Thanks Steve and Muffin. I am making the second cake today which I will share with my son , he is more than happy to have half a cake. I need to store them both in the refrigerator because of the tropical conditions here in Queensland. Neither my daughter or son live nearby so it will be a few weeks with limited space left in my fridge. I will manage. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks Carol. I am sure your cake will be fine. My first cake is definitely sulphate free…my daughter is allergic to it. My second cake is gluten and sulphate free. My son’s wife is gluten intolerant . I made a gluten free last year and they loved it .๐Ÿ˜€x

      1. I hope so the ovens here are not the best as being able to regulate the temperature… We have no piped gas its calor gas I do have a separate temperature gauge but it only goes so low min about I double tin everything and will also wrap the tin well with brown paper so hopefully it won’t cook too quickly making cakes is nightmare here… ๐Ÿ˜X

      2. I understand what you mean about oven temps etc. I didn’t have any brown paper this year so I used several layers of Baking paper. I cooked my cakes for the first time my a beville bench top oven… was a risk….the skewer came out clean. Good luck with your cake Carol. ๐Ÿ˜€x

      3. Hi Carol I checked out the above link. The recipe for the cake sounds good. I was interested in the tradition to eat the cake with me sharp tasty cheese, I will definitely try that….xx

    1. Thank you, I’m glad you liked the look of the festive cake . I used to decorate the top with cherries and almonds, decided this year to use yummy pecans. That cake is for my daughter at the cattle station.
